                        NOTABLE WEATHER EVENTS

Nov 3 1978
The temperature at the Downtown Airport reached 85
degrees, the record for the month of November.
Nov 4 1978 A repeat of the previous day, with a second 85 reading.
Nov 5 1990 The downtown airport recorded 2.0 inches of snow and
unofficial reports had up to 6 inches in Independence.
Nov 8 1991 It is very unusual to have the record low for the
month of November to comes this early in the month, but the +1 is.
Nov 10 This is a day without anything much ever happening. The
record precipitation of 0.37" in 1939 and 1992 is the lowest for any
day in November and the snowfall record is only 6/10th of an inch.
Nov 11 1911 On this 11/11/11 day the temperature dropped 65
degrees from 76 to 11, which is the Kansas City record for so short a
time period.
Nov 13 1986 Another November wierd happening. The low of +3 was
the lowest temperature of the 1986/1987 winter and it happened before
winter had officially begun!
Nov 14 1964 The high of 81 degrees is the latest day that 80 has
been recorded in Kansas City since 1888.
Nov 15 1932 The one day snowfall of 4.4 inches is the earliest
date for a snowfall of four or more inches.
Nov 16 1928 The 5.70 inches is the record for the month.
Nov 20 1973 The month would have had only a third of an inch of
rain if the 2.03" hadn't fallen on this day.
Nov 24 1931 The month had been warm and very wet, so the first
freeze did not happen until this day.
Nov 25/26 1975 A two-day snowstorm produced 3.2 and 3.9 inches
for a two day total of 7.1 inches. Since the 26th was Thanksgiving day
it became only the third such day with snow on the ground.

Nov 28 1976 The record low of +1 ties Nov 8 1991 for the lowest
of any November (since 1888).
Nov 29 1923 The 9.1 inches of snow is the record for the date
and for the month as well. It hit on the day of the annual MU-KU football
rivalry, which ended in a 3-3 tie.
Nov 30 1985 Sleet, freezing rains and thunderstorms left the area
under a layer of ice several inches thick.
Nov 30 1996 Heavy snow began around sunset and gave most of Greater
Kansas City at least 4 inches (KCI 4.8"). It was the second measurable
snow of the 1996-1997 winter season and the second that broke the record
for the day. Parts of Wyandotte and Leavenworth counties had up to seven
inches. The snow was shortlived and nearly gone in 48 hours.
